# SnapState > SnapState is a native macOS menu bar app that saves and restores named Mac window layouts. ## Product - Save windows on every macOS Space. - Restores layouts across multiple Spaces (apps go back to the Space they were saved on, full-screen windows return to full screen, and windows on other Spaces are placed when you switch to them). - Relaunch the apps captured in a workspace. - Remap saved window positions when the display setup changes. - Capture and reopen all open browser tabs (Safari and Chromium browsers), skipping tabs already open. - Restore windows, apps, display layout and browser tabs after sleep, wake or a monitor reconnect. - Built-in Sparkle auto-updates (Check for Updates menu item and automatic update toggle). - Restore from the menu bar or Control-Command shortcuts. - Store workspace snapshots locally on the Mac. ## Limits SnapState restores layouts across multiple Spaces (apps go back to the Space they were saved on, full-screen windows return to full screen, and windows on other Spaces are placed when you switch to them). It moves apps back to the Space they were saved on; an app whose windows were saved on several Spaces is not split between them. Browser tabs are restored when Automation permission is granted. Firefox is not supported. ## Facts - Price: $9.99 one-time purchase. - License: up to three Macs with a 14-day refund policy. - Platform: universal build for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs running macOS 15.7 or later. - Current version: 2.7.2 (apps go back to their saved Space, full-screen windows return to full screen, and windows no longer jump when you switch Spaces after a restore). - 2.7: restores layouts across multiple Spaces. - 2.6: restores all open browser tabs (Safari, Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Chromium) and adds automatic updates. - Distribution: signed and notarized DMG. ## Official links - Home: https://getsnapstate.com/ - Mac window layout guide: https://getsnapstate.com/mac-window-manager - Press and review kit: https://getsnapstate.com/press - Changelog: https://getsnapstate.com/changelog - Download: https://getsnapstate.com/SnapState.dmg - Demo video: https://getsnapstate.com/demo.mp4 - Buy: Lemon Squeezy checkout, $9.99 one-time ## Guides and comparisons - Stay alternative: https://getsnapstate.com/stay-alternative - SnapState restores windows, apps and all browser tabs on wake; Stay keeps window positions only. - Simple WindowSets alternative: https://getsnapstate.com/simple-windowsets-alternative - from Finder window sets to workspaces across all apps. - Moom vs SnapState: https://getsnapstate.com/moom-vs-snapstate - tiling window manager vs workspace snapshots. - Moom alternatives: https://getsnapstate.com/moom-alternatives - roundup for a saved Mac workspace (windows, apps, every Space, all browser tabs) instead of Moom tiling.
